Challenge
Wageningen University Plant Research (WUR) facilitates several plant research greenhouses for both the university and private institutions. These greenhouses require a stable and optimally conditioned indoor climate.
Solution
Delivery and installation of 90 Ned Air air handling units distributed over several greenhouses. The cabinets can function separately from each other and provide them individually with a stable and optimal indoor climate.
A stable indoor climate for the Wageningen University Plant Research
Wageningen University Plant Research (WUR) facilitates multiple plant research greenhouses for both the university and private institutions. These greenhouses need a stable and optimally conditioned indoor climate. The climate in a greenhouse determines the efficiency and quality of plant growth. Factors such as light, temperature, humidity and CO2 are important elements for the growth of a crop.
Customer specific air treatment
Ned Air developed customer-specific air treatment units in cooperation with installation company Bosman van Zaal. The challenge was to provide these greenhouses with fresh conditioned air in which no leakage could occur on either side. This is to prevent contamination of the crops and to ensure that no pollen or other particles get out. To ensure that no leakage could occur, the air handling unit was equipped with a two-stage filtration system. Whereby the first filter section is equipped with an ISO16890 ePM1 80% filter and the 2nd section with an ABSOLUTE™ HEPA H14 filter. These are mounted so that both filters can be replaced from the dirty side, i.e. from within the greenhouse itself.
Completely airtight filter section
During maintenance and cleaning of the filter sections, an airtight (T4) valve allows the filter section to be hermetically sealed off from the environment to prevent contamination. The filter section is made entirely of stainless steel so that cleaning/decontamination with hydrogen peroxide is possible without damaging the air handling unit.
Ned Air delivered 90 air handling units distributed over several greenhouses. These units can operate separately and provide each greenhouse with a stable and optimally conditioned indoor climate. Furthermore, Ned Air delivered 4 large central air handling units that realize the overpressure in the greenhouses and are equipped with heat recovery.
